Method

Early years education is the most important stage in a whole person’s life.

This is the conclusion of numerous scientific and neuropsychological studies. What we give to our kids from 0 to 6 years has a direct effect on their overall life and the adult they will become.

In order to build Giraffa Method we have analyzed and studied hundreds of both traditional and alternative methodologies as Montessori, Waldorf, Pikler, Reggio Emili, as well as Finnish, Australian, South Korean and other countries educational systems recognized as effective and innovative. Most of them offer something interesting to the future generations. Montessori is a clear example of how the whole industry switched from teacher-centered to child-centered and works towards maximizing the individual personal talents of each kid.

However, in a digital and structured world that we will face in future, we believe that the most important quality we must develop is common sense and creative thinking. This is done by building a strong foundation of self-confidence, capacity of communication, cooperation and critical thinking.

Which approach do we apply?

GIRAFFA is inspired by the Montessori approach and respectful parenting, but based on a validated European Curriculum of Early Years. We have taken the best of both, creating our own unique approach. Our students do not work. Our students play. By playing, they learn. All our materials are wooden hands on materials, no batteries, no lights and we are fully centered in accompanying the child through this wonderful journey until they learn to live by themselves.

What and how do we do it?

We design and select our play materials, basing the idea on the requirements of early age curriculum, specifically the area of logic and maths. Do you remember being a child and playing chess with your parents? Or maybe it was your dad who played battleship with your grandpa? Anyhow, those traditions are being lost with the frenetic rhythm of parents’ life today. Giraffa wants to recover it by its heirloom quality play products.

When playing with any Giraffa product, you can be confident and sure that kids are learning at the same time in a proactive, hands on way, developing the necessary brain functions in a strategic way. Nurturing our kids’ intelligence is a path for developing adults capable of taking educated decisions and thinking critically on their own.

And it is not only what but also how. Giraffa plays are made to play slowly, sharing and communicating, pitching and reasoning. There are no bad answers. And there are logical paths specifically designed in order to unleash all children’ potencial.

Treating our children with respect and controlling carefully which tools we offer them, will provide our little ones the sensation of being enormously loved and tremendously happy.
